Setting up handling units

Step by step process to create a handling unit

Updated over a week ago

Step 1 : First create in the reference data the product itself and set up the system unit. For example, let system unit will be one unit (piece).

This is the “base” product, and it’s units will be considered by the system as system units. It is important that “Handling unit” is not ticked in this reference item.

Step 2 : Create the number of similar products, correlating with the number of handling units of the product, each with it’s own product number - unique identifier for combination of product in certain package.

When creating this product variants, it is important to tick “Handling unit”.

This will let the system know, that it is not self-sufficient product but product variation.

Step 3 : Finally, in the “base” product reference data create handling units of the product, using tab “Handling units”. For this you need to choose all the handling units one by one and indicate it’s multiplier.

If this handling unit is also a Stock Keeping Unit (meaning user would like to see the stock data in this handling units), simply tick SKU.

If no handling unit has SKU ticked, than system unit will become also default Stock Keeping Unit.
